Without a Prayer: A Secular 12-Step Meeting

A new group open to the local community will meet at Mountain Light (2502 Tails Creek Road, Ellijay) on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 6:00 PM.  The first meeting is Wednesday February 21.

The mission of “Without a Prayer” is to assure suffering alcoholics/addicts can find sobriety without having to accept anyone else’s beliefs or deny their own.

“Without A Prayer” is a place where secular AA people are invited to share their experience, strength and hope and does not endorse or oppose any form of religion or belief system. We operate in accordance with the Third Tradition of the Alcoholics Anonymous Program: “the only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking (or doing drugs).”

The first few meetings will be “open” meetings – this means anyone can attend, usually relatives or friends of the alcoholics and addicts. After the first few meetings, they will be “closed”, meaning the meeting can only be attended by alcoholics and/or addicts, which encourages open discussion and anonymity.

Please feel free to forward and share this information with friends, family or acquaintances that may be interested. These meetings are intended for the local community and not just members or friends of Mountain Light.
