Karen Esterl is an applications developer and analyst (aka computer nerd) at Emory University, but her formal studies have been in religion and English. She majored in both while an undergrad at Furman University and subsequently received her master of theological studies (MTS) in world religions from Harvard Divinity School. Born and raised Roman Catholic, Karen discovered Unitarian Universalism while in college and has happily identified as a UU ever since. Formerly a board member of First Existentialist Congregation of Atlanta, she continues to be a friend of the congregation, where she sometimes leads music, talks, or listens to her partner, Laura Arnold (a United Church of Christ minister), talk. Karen and Laura live in Atlanta with two dachshunds, a cat, and a parrot.
