Mountain Light UUC has special interest groups

Mountain Light UUC also allows various community groups to use our space (at bottom of page).  These functions are not congregational activities; therefore, attendance is controlled by the groups themselves and may or may not be open to the public.  (If you can help with opening and closing, then please let us know: info@mluuc.org.)

Meditation Group

The meditation meets on the 1st and last Sunday of each month. Meetings will follow the Sunday service but allow a little time for socializing and for non-participants to begin clearing out before beginning. The meeting will be held in the Entertainment Lounge and will include an audio program, Practicing Mindfulness: An Introduction to Meditation, and the meditation. The length of meetings is expected to be under an hour.

Discussion Group

MLUUC member Helen Greene will host the first meeting at 9 AM on March 31. All are very welcome to come and discuss “God”.

Crafts Group

MLUUC member Leslie Wade will host 6 sessions on quilting on the third Saturday of each month beginning on Saturday, May 18.  All levels of experience including beginners are welcome.

Games Group

MLUUC member Kathy Romanick will host gatherings on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM.  They will meet on the RE side of the building and get started with some board games. The group is open to all.  So, come join the fun! Decisions on other games for future weeks will be based on participant interest.

Book Club

Laura and Ron Sturgis are avid readers and co-host a book club, which has transmuted into a dining/discussion forum.  They meet once a month at a different location to discuss the chosen book.  Ordering food is not required when meeting in a restaurant, and you are welcome to bring your young ones.  (The youngest Sturgis will be there with his tablet.)  If you would like to participate, then join the associated Facebook group (click here).

Upcoming Books and Venues:

The Book Club will take a break during May, June, and July.  It will start up again in August.

Gilmer County Democrats
