Welcoming Statements

Please use this page as a guideline for opening the service. Traditionally the announcements have come after the Welcoming Statement. If you prefer, you may place the "business" of the announcements to come before we settle into the morning's ceremony. You may, of course, edit and rearrange these passages to fit your needs.

Begin each Welcoming Statement with a greeting: "Good Morning! My name is [your name], and I will be our Service Leader this morning."

Below you will find some possibilities. You may craft them to fit your preferences or write your own Welcoming Statement entirely. Of course, you may use a Welcoming Statement that you have found on your own, but be sure to craft it to fit Mountain Light UUC. (Submit it to info@mluuc.org, if you want it included on this page.)

Welcome to our beloved community. Here you are free to be yourself, for we judge neither your preferences nor for your attributes, and we honor both the paths that you have chosen and the roles for which you had no choice. Your worth and dignity will not be questioned here.

Our liberal faith is the uncommon denomination. We are congregations of individualists embracing commonality. We praise the traditions that we share with other religions and yet celebrate our differences as we encourage all people in responsibly searching for their own personal Truth and Meaning.

We are pleased that you have joined us this morning, and we hope to welcome you again.

Welcome to Mountain Light Unitarian Universalist Church.

We are an official Welcoming Congregation of the UUA. Accordingly, we accept you regardless of your sexual or affectional orientation, your gender identity or expression, your age, your race or ethnicity, your ability or disability, your socioeconomic condition, your political affiliation, your citizenship status, or even your level of geekiness.

Ours is a liberal religion that encourages all individuals to seek their own spiritual path from our world's many religious and humanistic traditions. Therefore, some of us believe in the Divine, some of us do not. What we share, however, is a belief in Social Justice, and we are guided by our Seven Principles, rather than by creed or dogma.

As a lay-led congregation, the style and content of our services vary from week to week. We invite you to join us often, as we explore the possibilities of one faith celebrating many beliefs, including yours.

We honor the worth and dignity of each and every person here and everywhere. We are glad that you are with us today and hope to welcome you again and again.beliefs, including yours.

I'd like to welcome you to Mountain Light Unitarian Universalist Church.

We're a Welcoming Congregation, embracing diversity with open minds and open hearts. That means that we welcome folks regardless of their age, gender identification, ethnicity, political leanings, sexual orientation or how much money they have.

Unitarian Universal is a Liberal Religion that encourages folks to seek their own spiritual paths. Members of our denomination rely on a variety of teachings and traditions, religious, humanist and even scientific as we chart our spiritual paths. Because of that we are united by our shared values rather than a creed or dogma.

We are a lay-led congregation, so our services vary in content and style from week to week. Next week [next speaker] is speaking about [next service topic].

We're glad you're here today. And we hope to see you again soon as we explore the many possibilities of our faith.

As We Proclaim Worth by Dan Lambert

You are welcome here no matter who you are, no matter where you come from, no matter what your background. You are welcome here to join us as we proclaim worth in our spiritual journeys. You are welcome to join us as we sing songs that uplift our very beings. You are welcome to join us in community as we learn, live, and love together. All are welcome as we worship that which gives us each meaning and value. No matter what you call this building, this hour, or this gathering of people, we worship as one body, illuminated by the light of the chalice.
