Cynthia Anderson 20 Aug 1952 – 26 Aug 2022
In the early morning hours of Friday, August 26th, just days after her 70th birthday and one month following a stage 4 rare cancer diagnosis, Cynthia “Cindy” Anderson gained her wings unexpectedly with her daughter and son-in-law by her side in the comfort of her home.
As an extraordinary mother, devoted educator of 35+ years, and loving friend to many, Cindy was passionate about giving her time to others, making the most out of every moment, and fighting for her beliefs.
Her energy and presence lit up a room, her quirky humor (notably her puns!) made us groan AND chuckle, and her warmth and light left a lasting impression on those who were lucky to know her.
Cindy cherished years living in Miami, Jupiter, and also Gainesville at the University of Florida, where she not only earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education, but also met her best friend and partner in life, Stephen. Following the births of their children in ’87 & ’90 and Steve’s unfortunate passing in ’95, she raised her young children alone, but thrived despite the challenges she faced.
Cindy was always drawn to nature and had a fondness for traveling, animals, gardening, and thoroughly enjoyed her 60’s & 70’s tunes.
Prior to retiring in 2014 to the mountains of Ellijay, she treasured her FL teaching career at several schools including Indiantown Middle School and Jupiter High School. She adored her students and colleagues and inspired many through her love of language arts.
She is survived by her son Christopher, daughter Kellie, son-in-law JT, sister-in-law Mary, niece Jennifer, nephew Michael, and her rowdy fur-son Buddy!
The world truly lost a powerful force of love, charisma, courage, and authenticity. Cindy will be sorely missed, yet her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched.
As requested, a celebration of life close to nature will be organized in the coming weeks.
