I am inviting you to join us for a powerful discussion with Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock on voting rights and climate change on Thursday, April 28, 2021.
Senator Warnock is a new U.S. Senator from Georgia and an ordained Christian minister who pastors the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, where Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King preached. He is also the first Black person elected to the Senate from Georgia. He understands deeply how our policies need to be guided by our moral values. It will be a fascinating discussion about how voting rights and racial justice are tied to making progress on climate change in a conversation with Rev. Dr. Gerald L. Durley, IPL’s National Chair.
Our democracy is sacred, and voting is a sacred act. When fossil fuel polluters can buy influence through their political donations they are taking away our voice. We cannot effectively tackle the critical issues our nation faces—like combating the climate crisis, advancing environmental justice, and protecting our air, lands, waters, and biodiversity—without fixing the broken system that caters to corporate polluters and disenfranchises too many voters. That’s why both of these issues are important, and I’m so excited about having this discussion with Sen. Warnock.
When: Thursday, April 28th at 2:30pm Eastern Time
How to join: RSVP here
Speakers:
Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock, U.S. Senator from Georgia
