Gilmer Food Pantry

March 21, 2020: Gilmer Community Food Pantry’s resources are being quickly depleted as more businesses reduce or eliminate employees during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Pantry really needs our help, so they will be the MLUUC Giving Tree recipients through the end of May. Rather than send money to Helen Greene or Ed Wolpert as you normally would for the Giving Tree, please send any funds you can spare to:

Allen G. Triebel, Executive Director
Gilmer Community Food Pantry
P.O. Box 1982
Ellijay GA 30549

Make Checks out to “Gilmer Community Food Pantry”. On the “For” line of your check, please put “A MLUUC Donation” so they will know that we, as a congregation, are committed to helping the world (and Gilmer County) be a better place.

You can also give online here – you’ll have the opportunity to add a note “A MLUUC Donation” when you give online either using PayPal or a debit/credit card.

They need volunteers as well, but they don’t want folks to put themselves (or they’re clients) at risk if the volunteers are in a high-risk group (e.g., older than dirt). Contact info for volunteering is here.

Thanks for your help.

P.S. Here’s a link to FAQs that give more information about tax-deductibility of donations, how to donate food items and other information.
