Sunday, 2018 October 07

For our Sunday morning worship service on 2018 October 07, Mountain Light Unitarian Universalist Church welcomes Rev. Barry Whittemore to be our speaker.   “Coming Home to Universalism?” will be his sermon.  Dr. Whittemore tells us that  Unitarians and Universalists held different beliefs about ultimate destiny and who made the decisions; a theological conversation that was never held at the merger.  Have we, and has our culture chosen the better path or not?

The strength of Rev. Whittemore’s sermons is his expertise in applying our 7 Unitarian Universalist Principles to the process of spiritual growth, to which we all aspire in our own way, and to our personal systems of moral reasoning, which we use to live an honorable life and build our beloved community.

Rev. Whittemore is a retired Unitarian Universalist minister who served at the Georgia Mountains Unitarian Universalist Church in Dahlonega and congregations in Alabama, North Carolina, and Tennessee.  He currently teaches Appalachian Studies at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega.

Mountain Light, 2502 Tails Creek Road (GA-282 West), in Ellijay, is a Welcoming Congregation.  We welcome guests of all faiths, ethnicities, and gender identifications.  Our coffee and fellowship begins at 10 AM, followed by the service from 10:30 to 11:30.

Our next Youth Religious Education program will be held on October 14.  Children are welcome to attend our services in the sanctuary.  For information about our 7 Unitarian Universalist Principles and our future services, please go to mluuc.org.
