2018 JUN 24 Sunday Service

On June 24, Dr. Terri Thrower will give a sermon entitled, “Unruly Bodies: Embracing (and Sharing) our Unique Stories”.  She will raise to our awareness the fact that our bodies (physical, mental, emotional) are continually changing, whether we like it or not. At some point, we are all touched by illness, disability, aging, or loss of function. But, how comfortable are we in talking about those inevitable changes? Fear, pity, and awkwardness often accompany conversations about disability, aging, and illness; leading to silence (and stigma) rather than understanding. And, if we can’t talk about these issues, how can we embrace our changing and changed selves or the changes in those we care about?

Mountain Light, 2502 Tails Creek Road (GA-282 West), in Ellijay, is a Welcoming Congregation. We welcome guests of all faiths, ethnicities and gender identification. Our coffee and fellowship gathering begins at 10 AM, followed by the service from 10:30 to 11:30.

For the summer, we will take a break from our regularly scheduled Religious Education program and instead provide special events and activities for children and youth in the community, like our Camp Mind Up on June 26, 27, and 28. Children are always welcome to attend our services in the sanctuary. For information about our 7 Unitarian Universalist Principles and our future services and programs, please go to mluuc.org.
