APR 15 Service

On 2018 April 15, the Sunday worship service at Mountain Light Unitarian Universalist Church in Ellijay will be devoted to a Holocaust Remembrance program. The Service leader will be Mountain Light member Karl Seidman. There will be a special candle lighting and poem in memory of the nine million killed in the Holocaust, including six million Jews, as well as homosexuals, gypsies, and political dissidents.

There will be a brief reading from a booklet published by David Bergman entitled, “My Testimony and Legacy”. David passed away at the end of January 2018 at the age of 86 – a Holocaust Survivor and lifelong Holocaust educator. He was taken to Auschwitz and other death camps from the age of twelve in 1944 until the end of World War II.

Ed Wolpert, also a Mountain Light member, financial advisor, and retired educator, will be the featured speaker on the Holocaust and Anti-semitism. This is sure to be an enlightening and thought-provoking presentation entitled, “How Could This Have Happened – Why the Jews?”.

Mountain Light, 2502 Tails Creek Road (282 West), in Ellijay is a Welcoming Congregation. We welcome guests of all faiths, ethnicities and gender identification. Our coffee and fellowship begins at 10 a.m., followed by the service from 10:30 to 11:30.
