Yukon Road is cleaner due to a wonderful group of volunteers who withstood the heat Saturday morning to pick up litter. Heartfelt thanks to Gayle Wood, Helen Greene, Kasey Castleberry, Kathy and Michael Romanick, Ted Woehr, Thomas Ash, Tom Norris, Laura Burton, and Adrienne Corticelli. They spent a little over an hour to cover a 1.5-mile stretch of road, and collected 11 bags of litter. Kasey and Adrienne then spent a couple hours Sunday afternoon sorting out the recyclables; the end result being only 4 bags went into the landfill, while the rest was recycled. The litter cleanup will take place again in about 3 months, with details becoming available in September.
An added note: Kathy Shiner from the Gilmer County Road Department confirmed that they will use two nameplates per acknowledgement sign, so that the full name of our church can be spelled out in letters large enough to read! Let’s all watch for those to appear in the next month.
